Keloid
Keloids are firm, raised masses of abnormally growing scar tissue that are often tender and painful and occur following trauma to the skin.
Keloid formations are most commonly located on the back, central chest area, shoulders and collar bones, arms and ear lobes and can affect either males or females. Keloids can, however, form following any skin abrasion such insect bites, burns, acne pimples, or scratching if an individual is predisposed to them.
Prevention is the best treatment such as avoiding elective skin trauma (ear piercing, elective mole removal) when possible.
A number of methods are available for treatment and should be obtained as soon as possible to minimize the affected areas.
For your best possible effective treatment of keloids, contact Dr. Jessica Krant in her NYC office. Dr. Krant will perform a thorough examination and provide a treatment plan to diminish the keloids.
