Whether due to the effects of the sun, genetics, or aging, our skin can look less than its best with hyperpigmentation, sun damage, melasma, and other imperfections. With LaseMD, Dr. Krant can diminish dark spots, even out your skin tone and texture, and reduce visible signs of aging.

What is LaseMD?

LaseMD is a non-ablative fractional laser skin resurfacing treatment that can be fully customized to meet your skin goals. The laser makes tiny microinjuries in the skin, which increases collagen production, kickstarts the body’s natural healing process, and addresses a number of skin concerns including sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and melasma with minimal downtime.

How Does LaseMD Work?

The LaseMD laser works by using a laser beam fractionated into a small grid. By making micro-wounds, the treatment increases collagen and elastin production and directly targets sun damage, melasma, pigmentation, and uneven skin texture and tone.

Who is a Good Candidate for LaseMD?

LaseMD works on all skin types, but that doesn’t mean it’s the right treatment for everyone. Some of the criteria that make someone a good candidate for LaseMD include the following:

  • People with sun damage, melasma, hyperpigmentation, and visible signs of aging
  • Individuals with uneven skin tone and/or texture
  • Those with realistic expectations
  • Those without a history of facial keloid scarring
  • Discuss any history of cold sores with Dr. Krant

LaseMD Procedure

The LaseMD procedure starts with applying a numbing cream to the treatment area. Once that sets in, treatment is relatively simple. Dr. Krant will then apply the laser to the treatment area.

The treatment can take anywhere from 5-20 minutes after the numbing cream is removed, and Dr. Krant will customize the laser to your skin type and the skin concerns you’re looking to address.

Recovery and Results

After your treatment, you can return to your regular, day-to-day activities immediately but should avoid direct sun for as long as possible, ideally four weeks or so.

When you can expect the results depends on the skin concern you’re looking to address. You’ll start to see results about a week or two after treatment but full results don’t really appear for a month or more after each treatment session. Some skin issues need more than one session before you see full results, and all may require maintenance treatments over time.
