What is JUVÉDERM?
JUVÉDERM is an injectable dermal filler made up of hyaluronic acid. The injections can add volume to specific treatment areas, augment certain areas, and smooth out lines and creases, while the hyaluronic acid helps the skin retain moisture. The results are not permanent, but you can receive repeated treatments to maintain your results.
JUVÉDERM consists of an entire collection of dermal fillers that can address a number of different concerns. There are two different versions of JUVÉDERM: Hylacross and Vycross. The Vycross versions of JUVÉDERM are cross-linked with 10% high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid and 90% low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid molecules which makes them a little firmer than the Hylacross fillers. Vollure XC
JUVÉDERM Vollure XC is primarily used to address moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds like laugh and smile lines, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. With a few simple injections, you can turn back the hands of time and achieve a younger-looking appearance.
The XC in the names refers to the lidocaine in the formula. The inclusion of lidocaine ensures you’re completely comfortable throughout treatment.
Some of the side effects you may experience after treatment include firmness, swelling, redness, bruising, and discoloration at the injection site. These typically diminish after a few days. As with all fillers, the risk of injection into a deep vessel causing tissue necrosis or blindness is real, so always choose a board-certified dermatologist physician or other appropriate “core four” physician specialist.
The results of JUVÉDERM Vollure XC can last up to 18 months, at which point you can receive more injections to maintain your results.
Voluma XC
JUVÉDERM Voluma XC is an injectable hyaluronic gel that is FDA approved to add volume to the chin for chin augmentation and to improve the profile of the chin, but is used off-label for all areas of the face. The results can last up to a year.
Some of the side effects you can expect after the injections include redness, itching, swelling, and discoloration, but these effects generally resolve on their own within a few weeks, if not sooner. As with all fillers, the same more serious risks still apply.
The formula also includes lidocaine to make sure you’re comfortable throughout the treatment process.
Volbella XC
JUVÉDERM Volbella XC is a clear injectable gel used to improve the appearance of under-eye hollows and hydrate lips. If you struggle with depressed or sunken areas below your eyes and look tired no matter how much sleep you get, JUVÉDERM Volbella XC may be just the solution you’re looking for. Results can last for up to 1 year, and further injections can help you maintain those results.
Some of the side effects of JUVÉDERM Volbella XC you may experience include swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all fillers, the more serious filler risks apply.
As with JUVÉDERM Voluma XC and Vollure XC, Volbella XC also contains lidocaine to ease any discomfort during treatment.
Who is a Good Candidate for JUVÉDERM Vycross fillers?
Most adults over the age of 21 are good candidates for the Vycross versions of JUVÉDERM. If you’re looking to address facial wrinkles and creases, want to improve your face shape, or are looking to address under-eye hollows or hydrate your lips, you’re likely a great candidate for at least one of these JUVÉDERM fillers.
We also recommend you be in generally good health, be a nonsmoker, and have realistic expectations for your results.
Recovery and Results
There is no downtime required with JUVÉDERM Vycross injections. You can return to work, school, or your normal routine immediately. For the first 24–48 hours after treatment, you will want to avoid excess sun exposure, strenuous exercise, alcohol, and direct heat.
You’ll notice some initial results immediately, but gradual improvement will continue over the next two weeks as any swelling, bruising, and redness diminish.
